I went to community college after high school, went up to Tallahassee to go to Florida State but I left school never having finished my degree. Remember I went off to Wyoming… well, I left school behind at that point. My mind wasn’t into it back then. I was trying to figure out life and get my act together.
I now understand why some people travel or take time off before they start college. As good as it may sound to head straight to college from high school and get all of your schooling over with it doesn't work for everyone. At 18 years old I did not know what I really wanted in life and what would be important to me once I grew up. I had no idea which way my life was going to go.
Now here I am almost 40 and I am about to finally get that damn diploma that I have been working on finishing since Jaden was born. A class at a time, here and there, bit by bit but this is it.
Why am I even doing this now? Because I have two little kids who I want to show that it can be done. I want to show them that I can finish what I start. I want them to see Mommy do it so that when it is their turn to go to college maybe they will be more motivated.
So, while I will not officially be finished by the time I turn 40, I will be done this summer. I am on my very last class. And, while I really couldn’t care less about walking across the stage with a cap and gown on, I will do it for my kids. I hope they finish what they start as well.
It's alive!
And it's kickin'
Inside of me.
So come on baby, please!
Come on baby finish what you started.
Oh! I'm incomplete.
